The Ankaria Foundation announces “Ankaria Photo”, the First International Photography Prize of the XXI Century

The Ankaria Foundation announces “Ankaria Photo”, the First International Photography Prize of the XXI Century, open to the participation of visual artists from anywhere in the world, with unpublished photographic projects or developed in the last three years, to explore new expressive ways for this language.

The organization of the award emphasizes that it will especially value proposals “that look to the future, move away from the documentary past of the image as an instant and anticipate new paths to consider in the age of the Internet, such as those opened by smartphones and social networks” .

In particular, the bases of the award focus on those “conceptualizations that build a visual story from postphotographic, metaphographic or image analysis or reflection issues.”

To decide the winner, the jury will value the artist’s career and his projection as a determining factor, as well as his insertion in the discourse of 21st century photography.

The award has a financial endowment of three thousand euros and is accompanied by a residence grant in Barcelona, tutored by Joan Fontcuberta, which will take place throughout 2021. The grant covers accommodation and living expenses.
