Transversia: a pioneer initiative of international cooperation in the field of art
The Ankaria Foundation develops since the last two years the Transversia program, a pioneer initiative of international cooperation within the field of artistic creation, that allows young artist to explore new paths of experimentation arisen from the encounter with other creators and create meeting points with the artistic ecosystem. Till this date, two editions of the program have been celebrated, which has allowed Spanish and Senegalese artists to carry out one-month exchange programs, defrayed completely by the foundation in the respective countries.
The creations made by the Spanish and Senegalese artists during the two editions of Transversia will be the body of the “Impressions of Africa. The reality and its overflow” exposition with which the Ankaria Foundation will concur in the following edition of the Biennial of Dakar, which constitutes as one of the most representative platforms to know the trends hatching in the African contemporary art panorama.
In its first two editions, Transversia has been open to the participation of Spanish and Senegalese artists above the age of 18, both as individuals or representing a collective, with pieces within any of the plastic arts discipline (painting, sculptures, photography, drawing, video, installation, performance or any other slope with technical liberty). To opt for the scholarship of the Ankaria Foundation, the artists must present with their candidacy a project which they compromise with to develop during the period of residency.
