The Ankaria Foundation together with the g&e Magazine have participated in the seventh edition of the International Festival of Engraving and Work on paper that was held in Bilbao, becoming a must for art lovers. National and international gallery owners have presented their proposals at the Euskalduna Palace, the main congress center of Bilbao located in the area of cultural interest, very close to the Guggenheim Museum and the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum. The fair’s own activity is complemented by a powerful and ambitious program of workshops, conferences, live demonstrations and spaces for consecrated artists and new promises of graphic art to show their creative proposals. In this way, FIG Bilbao manages to project Bilbao internationally for four days as the nerve center of the market and the dissemination of printmaking and art on paper.
On this occasion the winning works of the V edition of the Ankaria Artist Book Award were presented. The first prize went to Roberto Aguirrezabala (Sestao, 1971) for his work “Parabellum”. The jury has awarded with the second prize to the artist Raúl Díaz Reyes (1977) for his “Always in love”. For the second year, and in a double way, we wanted to reward the work of a young creator to encourage the production of artist books. The winner in this category was Natalia Escudero (Zaragoza, 1991) with her work “Sin Título”, and an access to this category has been granted to Razvan Gabriel Pantea (Bucharest, 1994) for his “CODE”.
