Retrospective exhibition on Madrid artist Fernando Bellver on the ocasion of his 60th birthay taking his self-portraits as a conduct to take a look at the entire work of the painter, sculptor and printer.
Self-Portrait is both a classic and contemporary genre and it not only enables the observer to appreciate the artist’s transformations on his view and style over the years, but also to, through fragmentary images, shed some clever light on our own self-perception.
Fernando Bellver is one of the most versatile artist in the contemporary scene. Winner of the Graphic Art National Prize, his creative activity goes beyond print borders and re-thinks the world of art and cotidianity by all plastic technics (peinture, sculpture, photography and cinema among others) in a ironic and exquisit pop view. His works are on some of the best collections and museums all over the world.
This exhibition, coordinated by Fundación Ankaria and curated by Alfredo Mateos Paramio, international curator, is a homage to an essential figure of the Spanish contemporary art.
