Francisco José Mateo Domínguez, 26, studying last year of computer engineering in the University of Alcalá, has won the second edition of the Ankaria Prize for the best article on Politics and Society organized by the Foundation in collaboration with El Economista newspaper, with his article Going nowhere.
Likewise, the jury has awarded María Victoria Sánchez García with the accesit for her article titled The challenge of competitiveness in Spain: Education.
In this second edition of the Ankaria Journalism Prize, the theme proposed for reflection was Education as a competitiveness resource which generated interest in more than 50 students that submitted the same number of works to the Prize.
The prize consists on the publication of the article in the economic newspaper and an award of 600€. Also, the winner may participate in all the activities promoted by the Foundation on 2015.
The winning article presents a very critical view of education in Spain, and encourages the authorities to plan an economic development program first, and then adapt all educative efforts towards that goal. The jury appraised the original focus and the daring and flowing prose.
