Exhibition “The Painted Word. From Picasso to today”

The Foundation vindicates the Artist's Book from a contemporary vision with an exhibition in Córdoba that brings together work, artists and editors.

We can find a hundred pieces describing the evolution of the artist’s book from the beginning of the 20th century, with the figure of Picasso at the forefront, to the present day.

The exhibition proposes a journey through the production of some of the most prestigious creators of the 20th century, such as Picasso, Chillida, Tapies, William Kentridge, Anthony Caro and Miró, and looks at the projects being carried out by some of the most important publishers today and at the collection of works awarded the Ankaria Artist’s Book Prize during its ten years of existence up to the present day.

The exhibition, curated by Isabel Elorrieta, is also part of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Ankaria Artist’s Book Prize, which has already become an international reference.

The exhibition is completed with a space dedicated to independent publishers committed to books and artists who, from self-publishing, are committed to this medium. Among them are some of the forerunners in this field, such as the Galería Estampa in Madrid, alongside names such as Ivorypress, Caniche, This Side Up, Ogami Press, Laurel Parker, Ediciones Originales Tinta Invisible or Berlin-based Backbonebooks.
