Guillermo Mora wins the IV Ankaria Award

The fourth edition of the La Palabra Pintada prize for the best artist’s book, awarded by the Ankaria Foundation, has gone to Guillermo Mora (Alcalá de Henares, 1980) for his work La Maison, a piece resulting from the combination of two intertwined books (La Maison Tellier, by Guy de Maupassant, and L’espagnol, by Bernard Clavel) and covered in paint to form a single object.

The jury also awarded two second prizes, which went to Rosell Meseguer (Orihuela, 1976) for his work Carbón dulce, and to Beatriz Díaz Ceballos (Oviedo, 1971) for the project Custodia (Custody). Similarly, and for the first time in the life of this prize, the aim was to reward the work of a young creator in order to promote the production of artists’ books. The winner in this category was Beatriz Gregores (Pontevedra, 1995).

In its four years of existence, the La Palabra Pintada Prize has become the most important prize in Spain in this speciality and is open to visual artists from all over the world. A total of 345 projects from artists of different nationalities have been submitted for this year’s edition.
